Bonaire Real Estate Is Looking Better and Better

Do you read the newspapers?  Do you follow world events?  Are you aware of the financial malaise blanketing the non- Asian industrial world?

If you do you know how depressing the economic picture is in the western world.  Of all the European countries only Germany and Sweden are truly moving forward.  The interest rate in Greece after months of world wide financial intervention, bailouts, budget reform, budget slashing and more is unchanged.  Today’s interest rates in Greece are almost exactly the same as before the crisis.

The situation is the same in the other PIIGS countries, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain.  The situation in Europe is little changed.  Banks are doing very well except for those that may fail.  Some industries are reporting record profits and some are going bankrupt.

The situation in America improved the last quarter of 09 and the 1st quarter of 2010. The 2nd quarter of 2010 was revised downward this morning to 1.6% growth.  In the real world 1.6% growth is so small it means almost no growth.  The jobs market is dismal.  No matter how you look at it business in the “known” world is nothing to write home about.

Cheer up by looking at Bonaire.  A few years ago any negative change in the Dutch or American economies put Bonaire’s economy into a tailspin.  If both Holland and America had economic problems it meant Bonaire’s economy crash-landed.  If either Holland or America had economic troubles Bonaire’s economy was like a plane trying to land with its wheels locked in the up position.  Whatever happened was going to be nasty.

Today all of that has changed dramatically for the good!  Don’t get me wrong.  Bonaire is not China or India.  Bonaire is doing well.  Real estate prices have held steady the last few years despite the shrinking demand.  Interest in Bonaire real estate if not outright demand is increasing.  We believe interest will continue to increase with 10-10-10 and 1-1-11.  We believe interest will change into measurable increasing demand in the immediate future.

Does this mean we are on a rocket ship going straight up?  No.  There will be fits and starts.  Just yesterday the Divi Divi owner announced it was abandoning its 4-year attempt to develop the old Sunset Beach site.

Having a stable economy and a very bright future is a huge plus, a real win in a world economy that is dead in the water and when there is no light at the end of the tunnel.  Bonaire real estate is better positioned than in probably 90% of the countries of the world.  Yes think about it.  Go continent-by-continent, country-by-country and you will see Bonaire is a great place to have your real estate right now.

When every one is down stable is good.  When there is a light out the end of your tunnel that is much better than no light and perhaps no tunnel.  Job growth is better than joblessness growing.  Cement flying out the door at Kooyman is better than no construction on the island.  Making money is better than losing money.  Stabile real estate values are better than declining real estate values.

No matter where you go on Bonaire, no matter where you look at real estate values, no matter what island or country you compare Bonaire to; the economy of Bonaire and particularly real estate on Bonaire is a good place to be.

What has happened to your real estate in your home market?

Would you like to know the value of your Bonaire real estate?

In the past 5 years which was a safer better investment your Bonaire real estate or your other real estate?

You can just feel the excitement in the air.  Many who left the island for the summer are returning.  There is more and more talk about 10-10-10 and 1-1-11.  There is more excitement about 10-10-10 and 1-1-11 as the benefits of the first few projects started in the spring are moving forward.  People can see the real world benefits taking place.  Confidence is growing that 10-10-10 and 1-1-11 will in the long run be very beneficial to Bonaire.

We have client meetings most of today.  If the weather cooperates it will be a very busy weekend of yard work.  The cooler shorter days are triggering a lot of growth and pruning is in order.  Of course we always plan for high quality family time as well.  We wish you a bon dushi weekend of health happiness peace and prosperity.
