Why We Love Living on Bonaire Island
We bought so our children and grandchildren would have a great place to visit and be a family. Our family loves to gather on Bonaire.
We love the people and the environment.
We love living in Paradise.
We enjoy the international feel of the people, the access to America and Europe.
There is a special peace and harmony on Bonaire that we could not find anywhere else.
We bought because of the sun, sea, sky and those beautiful tropical breezes.
We came to enjoy the world’s greatest shore diving and stayed for the life style.
The first time we came to Bonaire we fell in love all over again. Retiring, or more accurately reawakening, on Bonaire became our passion. We moved to our new home in 2001 and have lived happily ever after.
We came to dive and stayed in a hotel. Then we stayed in condos and finally bought a lovely one on the sea. Then we bought our beautiful home overlooking the island and the sea. Bonaire is a slice of Heaven
We love and live on Bonaire because it’s a home filled with sunny beaches and bright futures.
We came to Bonaire because It offers great living opportunities and to open a small bed and breakfast business.
We were looking for a great way of life, it doesn’t get better than Bonaire. Low property taxes, and Bonaire offers a reasonable cost of living compared to other islands in the Caribbean.
What we love about Bonaire is that it’s in a region that attracts tourists each year, who appreciate its warm winter climates, tropical summers, spectacular sunsets and beautiful beaches. To those of us who choose to live here, these are every day pleasures–not just vacation moments.
We love the island because we can go fishing before heading into the office. We walk on the beach at sunset. We enjoy wearing shorts in January. And we are thankful, with each and every sunny day, to have made the decision to live in Bonaire.
We choose to live in a historic bungalow, located a block from the water. It is perfectly located for our windsurfing and diving, as well as walking to the shore for spectacular sunsets.
For us we chose a high rise (3 floors) by the ocean. It fit our budget and lifestyle. Just remember, the sunshine, sunsets and breezes are free!
I brought our family (2 brothers and 4 sisters) and their families to the island to enjoy the warm winter. I felt like a hero. The condo I bought is centrally located in the resort area and 1.5 miles from the town. Three other family members ended up buying a vacation home in the very same complex. We’ve been visiting for years and now own our own piece of paradise.
Before our purchase here we could only imagine looking out from our private balcony. Now that we have a home we gaze down upon the beautiful boardwalk. The wide beach. The glistening Caribbean Ocean.
Every morning we take a moment and breathe in the salty air, the tropical scent of coconut suntan lotion. The constant cool breeze brings you the sound of the rhythmic waves and the laughter of families playing in the surf. Right on the beach, in the heart of Kraylendijk.
Our home offers us a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all the island has to offer, from dancing at free concerts and eating fresh seafood to watching turtles and dolphins bobbing in the ocean for air.
We purchased a truly family friendly condo/hotel complex. The staff has been welcoming guests for years, and we consider every one from the handy men to the maids part of our family.
While every day on Bonaire is special, we have some extraordinary memories of times spent with our loved ones. We also have had a variety of wonderful, fun-filled activities, visiting the donkey sanctuary, butterfly farm and animal shelter.
Where to start? With so many attractions, you can do as much-or as little-as you want. Let’s see, do you go fishing off the pier, dancing at the beach bar, or shopping at some nice stores, or perhaps you want to simply float in the water, maybe sit on the beach and start the day with a breathtaking sunrise? Oh, so many choices. Whatever you want to do or not do, it’s all refreshing.
Have fun with your family. Visit Washington Slagbai Park, Museums, see holiday lights at the beach, enjoy over two miles of Boardwalk or Butterfly park.
For the dive fans we can get in our car and drive to some of the finest golf courses on the Coast, kayaking, wind surfing and kiteboarding are all along the way.
We enjoy some of the island attractions including deep sea fishing, dolphin watching, our private aquarium when we snorkel and volunteering at the animal shelter.
We can enjoy sunset cruises with the local sail boats.
We’ve enjoyed music festivals and free cruise boat entertainment, plus concerts and events at the Plaza resort as well as other venues.
My wife has a talent for art so we visit JanArt gallery for lessons as well as beautiful artwork.
Dive shops, souvenirs, coffee shops, restaurants and swim wear. It’s fun to stroll along the town shops as well as the park shops when the ships are in.
From day one when we arrive mid-day at the airport we go to our little villa, then breathe in the salt air as we take an afternoon stroll by foot or our two seater bike to explore the vibrant boardwalk.
Just being in Bonaire puts you in a relaxed state of mind.
We visit Bonaire for insight into our dream lives.
Part of our experience is to exercise to help reach a state of balance.
We were able to experience how strange and wonderful nature really is – and how worth it is to conserve. Its knowledge you can take with you. While hiking in the Washington Park area.
