Lac Bay – A popular family picnic spot is also a pleasant area providing shallow swimming and wading. As a windsurfing site, is an 8 sq. km. lagoon that is protected from the sea by a barrier reef, creating ideal flat-water windsurfing conditions with perfect side onshore wind that averages 15-25 knots from December to August and 10-20 knots from September to November. The majority of the lagoon is shallow (thigh-deep) so, during a fall, you have the energy conserving experience of touching a sandy bottom. Local bands playing on the weekend as well as local food to buy.

Pink Beach – A safe swimming spot for all the family, residents and visitors frequent this great location. The beach is perfectly positioned as a halfway point for sightseers taking a drive along the southern coast. Barbecue and picnic area, camping.

Bachelor Beach – A sheltered beach, safe for all ages. Near town with barbecue and picnic area.

1000 Steps Beach – Walk down the many steps (not 1,000) along the cliff side to a hidden sandy cove, and enjoy this picturesque area – ideal for swimming, snorkeling and views galore.

Playa Frans – A small fishing village of Playa Frans where the wooden fishing boats, many of which were made a century ago here in Bonaire, go out daily to bring in the catch of the day. Dive, kayak, or just walk around and have a snack here.

Boka Slagbaai – Reached by a scenic cliff road, is another prime snorkeling beach just outside the no-diving marine reserve. The beach is rocky in spots, but there is enough sand for a picnic on each end of the cove. Today it is virtually unspoiled, with shore-wading birds and pelicans feeding on the stretches of beach and buildings dating back to 1869.

Playa Funchi – Playa Funchi is an excellent dive. Easy entry, a short kick-out, and plenty of sights. There is even a bit of tree shade available. There is a small beach with no crowds and it is sandy and flat and makes for an easy entry. The swim out is short maybe 100 yards and there is coral and small tropical fish in the shallows; this would also be a good snorkeling location.

Boka Bartol – In Washington/Slagbaai National Park along the unpaved roads and farther north from Playa Benge. Check with the park to insure the road is open. Strong currents even if the surface appears calm.

Boka Kokolishi – A tiny-shell gravel, and black sand beach with a small, shallow pool for swimming. Rugged hiking.

Playa Chikitu – A sand dune area around a sandy cove on the North Coast. Swimming forbidden.
