Remember the old and great movies of Hollywood where everything was magic and magical. All the people were beautiful and everything was perfect. In the dark days of world wars and depressions in Hollywood everyone dreamed of a world were dreams were true and reality was not real.
Last night was a perfect example of dreams coming true on Bonaire in a way and time that is magic. Last night was just a perfect example of why so many people love Bonaire, love to visit, love to own, love to live on Bonaire.
Imagine the beautiful setting of the private and exclusive condominium resort of Harbour Village. We drive up and park by the main gate. No waits, no crowds, no wondering if the parking attendant is going to take your car on a joy ride, just peace and security. We walk through the gate and enter a cinderella like world of beautiful palms and tropical plants each wrapped in a string of soft small white Christmas lights. We stroll down this beautiful pathway to the beach. the arched and curving palms outlined by the tiny lights. The stars twinkling above and a 3/4 moon adding just the perfect amount of light.
We can hear the soft lapping of the water as we approach the beach. The balmy breezes caress our skin. the temperature is about 78, the wind soft, the air is alive with magic. We stop and take off our shore when we come to the sand. The sand feels cool and gentle between our toes. We look up and there is the most beautiful table set for 24 in white linen, crystal, separate glasses for champagne, white and red wine. Island torches set close enough to light the table and far enough away to cast marvelous shadows across us. The staff is waiting for us to sit. One waitress for the white wine, one for the red, another for the champagne. There are more food servers than i can count, i think there is one for each couple.
We are here to celebrate the marriage of the wonderful children of two couples of very close friends, a uniting of wonderful souls. We sit and give thanks for these fabulous blessings, we rise for the first of many toasts and tributes. We all realize how truly blessed we are. The guests are from all over the world and have lead amazing lives and here we are united in happiness enjoying the most magical of experiences and knowing that it is real and true and all on Bonaire.
Unlike the movies, it is not going to come to an end. Nobody is going to take down the set or remove the props. The food and drink are real and tastes so delicious. It is not rubber or plastic designed not to melt from the heat of the movie lights. We are living the dream and the dream is real and it is Bonaire. We are blessed.
